Find the exact frequency of your tinnitus

Sweep until the sound matches your ringing, save your frequency, then generate a masking sound notched around it โ€” for tonight, when you can't sleep.

โš ๏ธ Start at low volume, especially with headphones. Never play sounds louder than your tinnitus.

Common questions

What frequency is my tinnitus?

Most tonal tinnitus falls between 3,000 and 8,000 Hz, but everyone is different. Sweep the slider above until the tone blends into or matches your ringing โ€” that's your frequency. Save it so you never have to hunt for it again.

What is notched sound therapy?

Notched sound is noise with a narrow band removed at your tinnitus frequency. Some studies suggest notched audio may be helpful for some people over time, and many simply find it a more comfortable masking sound. It is not a cure and not a medical treatment.

My tinnitus is a hiss, not a ring. Can I still match it?

Yes โ€” switch the matcher to Hiss mode. It sweeps narrowband noise instead of a pure tone, which matches noise-like tinnitus (hissing, static, crickets) much better.

Can masking sounds help me sleep?

Many people find gentle noise at night makes the ringing less noticeable and easier to fall asleep with. Keep the volume at or just below your tinnitus level โ€” it should soften the ringing, not drown out the world.

My tinnitus just started and I'm scared. What should I do?

New tinnitus is frightening, but for most people it fades or becomes much less noticeable over weeks to months as the brain habituates. If it started suddenly, is in one ear only, or came with hearing loss or dizziness, see a doctor promptly โ€” sudden hearing changes are worth checking quickly. Be kind to yourself, avoid silence (soft background sound helps), and know that the panic phase passes for the vast majority of people.
